Custom Fabrication: Five Facts About Steel

custom fabricationCustom fabrication of steel is a manufacturing process that takes components of steel and joins them together. Sheet metal fabrication and custom fabrication has many different applications and uses. Here are five things to learn about custom fabrication of sheet metal.

1. The Process
Custom fabrication is a process through which steel is shaped cut welded and sampled into different parts. What’s this part is finished, engineers create designs and plans made from these pieces. One item, for instance, that is made from custom fabrication is the hydraulic pump. Hydraulic pumps were used in specials by NASA. Each pump operated at 3600 RPM, and provided 3050 psi.

2. The Types
Custom fabrication creates pieces that are made from different types of steel. There is electroplated steel, galvanize steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel to name a few. Steel is a material that expands when it is heated, and is quite durable, lasting on the average over 50 years.

3. The Advantages
Iron which is the least costly and most frequently used of all metals is where steel comes from. Iron is used mostly to make steel because there are so many different ways that it can be used. It is affordable, resist corrosion, and is the second largest industry in the world after gas and oil.

4. The Sources
Custom fabrication is responsible for producing over 50% of all the items in the world. Steel fabrication makes office buildings, air conditioners, boats, airplanes, and more. The Soviet Union, the United States, and a few other countries are large producers of steel. But since around the year 2000, China has been the biggest steel producer in the world.

5. The Grades
Steel actually is comprised of about 3,500 various grades, and more alloys are always being developed. Steel bridges, buildings, and tankers are so effective because the steel is much lighter than other materials.

There are many more fascinating examples of the great uses of custom fabrication, particularly in relation to a custom hydraulic system or hydraulic companies in general. New ways are constantly being developed to use hydraulic parts, for example, or finding new systems for hydraulics restoration. The future is filled with exciting possibilities!
